This week : Jusepe de Ribera

Ribera, Saint Jérôme and the angel of the Last Judgement, 1626,Oil on canvas,
262×164 cm, Naples, musée de Capodimonte

I like this work for its uncompromising depiction of an old man’s body.

I like the still life of skull and books.

I like the rounded movement of the angel’s arm extending into the trumpet.

I like this work for the light that seems to fall from the sky onto Jérôme’s body.

And you, what do think about it ?
